What Students Need to Bring to Get an ID Card.....

In order to obtain an Alaska State Identification Card, students must provide the following documentation:

An original or certified copy of a U.S. birth certificate (from Vital Statistics, not the Hospital)
Original Social Security Card
Parental Consent Form (if under age 18)
Proof of Residency (all students, including over age 18, must have this parental affidavit filled out and notorized.  If under age 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign and have notorized)

There is no age limitation for a State identification card. An identification card is valid for five years after issuance and will expire on the applicant's birth date.

Jr. High Career Exploration Sessions Offered

Coming soon!  Jr. High Career Exploration Session at NACTEC

Schools have the opportunity to send their junior high students to NACTEC with one/two staff members from the school. NACTEC staff will work with the incoming school’s staff to set up a program that will meet the needs of the school. This program will consist of survival swimming, exploration of careers, and exploration of vocational programs in building trades, welding, engine repair, and/or consumer science. A maximum of twenty-four students will be able to attend. The main goal of the Junior High program is to acquaint students with introductory vocational and life and work readiness skills.

Check out of the NACTEC Sessions calendar to see when the next session is for Jr. High Career Exploration.  If your school is interested in applying, begin by downloading and printing a Jr. High Student Application here .  School site staff will download and print a Teacher Application here which must accompany the Jr. High Student Applications.

For the Driver's Education course, what documentation do I need?

When you apply for a driver’s license or permit, you must provide the following documentation:

  1. Documentary proof of your legal name and date of birth. 
  2. Original Social Security number. A social security card must be presented for verification or you must present an approved waiver from the Social Security Administration or the Internal Revenue Service.
  3. A parent/guardian consent for a minor form must be signed by a parent/guardian which is required by DMV in order for  students to apply for a learner's or driver's permit.  A faxed copy is not acceptable, it must be the original document. 
  4. Proof of residency (all students must have this form filled out and notorized.  Students under 18 years of age must have the parent or legal guardian sign and notorize.
Driver's Education is offered in Sessions 6, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13.  Check out the Sessions Calendar or contact a NACTEC teacher at 443-7682 if you have any questions or concerns.
